IP2 is proud supporting their clients in protecting their R&D investments in front runner technologies. Here are some examples of technical areas where we are currently involved in:
CRISPR is an abbreviation of Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats and stands for a family of DNA sequences in bacteria that contains snippets of DNA from viruses that have attacked the bacterium. These snippets are used by the bacterium to detect and destroy DNA from further attacks by similar viruses. These sequences play a key role in a bacterial defence system, and form the basis of a genome editing technology known as CRISPR/Cas9 that allows permanent modification of genes within organisms
CRISPR/Cas genome editing techniques have many potential applications, including medicine and crop seed enhancement. The use of CRISPR/Cas9-gRNA complex for genome editingwas the AAAS’s choice for breakthrough of the year in 2015.
