IP2 EXCLUSIVE SPONSOR OF SUMMER MUSIC SCHLOSS RHEYDT
The summer music at Schloss Rheydt is a live open-air festival which has already welcomed many famous guests: from BAP to Roger Cicero, classics such as UB40, Paul Carrack or José Feliziano or even the next generation of Buena Vista Social Club namely Günter von Dorp as initiator and spiritus rector of concerts whose full-time job is to moderate WDR4.
After following this festival for 4 years as onlooker, this year, we had the pleasure to be part of it as sponsor. The start of all in all 9 concerts was made on Friday 19 August by Münchener Freiheit (MF), who units its fans through three generations.
Having its roots with the Beatles and the Beach Boys, MF has developed its own very successful style. It is not without good reason that the press calls them the German pendant to Electric Light Orchestras.
Finally, Götz Alsmann rounded off the festival on August 28.
After his platinum record „In Paris“, the jazz entertainer and his band now work towards Broadway, the cradle of „American Songbooks“. Compositions of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Rogers & Hammerstein and many others are waiting to be performed live on stage in the new typical Alsmann appearance.
However, the climax (not only in our view) was Saturday 20 August as there were Barclay James Harvest playing their only concert in Germany. Thereby, they were exclusively presented by IP2.
I admit: As old-time rockers having their roots in the progressive music of the 70s, it did not take us long when we heard: “Who is willing to exclusively sponsor this concert?”. It gives you goose-bumps as John Lees who is one of the two band founders promised that all the old hits such as „Child of the Universe“, „Hymn“ and „Mocking Bird“ would be played as well. So who wonders that the concert has been sold out within hours only.
